About

In 1847, Siemens AG was founded in Berlin by its founders Werner von Siemens and Johann Georg Halske. As its medical division, it was renamed Siemens Medical Solutions in 2001 and then Siemens Healthcare in 2008. In 2015, Bernd Montag took office as the Global Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Our Mission: When our health is at risk, we rely on doctors to make the best decisions—from rapid, early diagnosis to the most effective treatment and follow-up care. By continuously bringing groundbreaking innovations to the market, we help healthcare professionals provide high-quality care, thereby delivering the best therapeutic outcomes for patients.

Our portfolio (of products and services) is at the core of clinical decision-making and treatment pathways. Patient-centered innovation has always been the cornerstone of our company. We are committed to creating better treatment results and experiences for patients, no matter where they are or what challenges they face.

We lead breakthroughs in the healthcare field. For everyone. Everywhere. With sustainability. That is why we do our utmost every day to improve the lives of patients and their families.

Our Innovation Leadership: The unique combination of our strengths sets us apart and enables us to actively shape the transformation of healthcare. We advance precision medicine through highly personalized diagnostics, treatment options, follow-up care, and health management. This helps us understand patients as comprehensively as possible.

Digitalization, Data, and Artificial Intelligence (AI): We leverage digitalization, data, and artificial intelligence (AI) to drive digital transformation and support the operations of suppliers through technology-enabled services.

Addressing Global Challenges: Approximately 3 billion people worldwide do not have access to healthcare services. Many patients still suffer from diseases that could be effectively cured, simply because they cannot afford or access diagnostic and treatment tools. We believe everyone should have access to high-quality, personalized healthcare services.

Global Business, Local Care: Even the most advanced technology's effectiveness depends on the number of people who use it. Therefore, innovation must be scalable. This means solutions must be customizable to meet the needs of customers, healthcare providers, and the local infrastructure they rely on.

What all healthcare systems have in common is that they require high-value care—delivering better results with fewer resources. Medical technology is a global industry, but healthcare itself is inherently local.

Our Innovation Heritage: We uphold a history of innovation and are a global enterprise with a profound foundation in engineering technology. In 1895, just one year after Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen discovered X-rays, we developed the company's first medical X-ray device.

Our Legacy Endures: Today, our engineers and researchers around the world continue to carry forward our innovative spirit. We invest 1.5 billion euros in research and development every year and hold approximately 24,000 pieces of technical intellectual property (including more than 15,000 granted patents). We continuously bring groundbreaking innovative achievements to the market to benefit patients, healthcare professionals, and society.

Our Responsibility: If we aim to serve 8 billion people worldwide, an inclusive culture is a prerequisite. As a diverse organization, we can better connect with people (whether customers or patients) and better understand their communities and the specific challenges they face. Therefore, diversity, equity, and inclusion are important components of our broader responsibility. Contributing to the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals is a focus of our business strategy, and this is continuously supported by our unique corporate culture. We are a member of the United Nations Global Compact, and our emission reduction targets have been recognized as aligned with the level required to achieve the goals of the Paris Agreement. Our sustainable development strategy is built on three pillars: we are committed to improving universal healthcare services, controlling environmental impact while driving breakthroughs, and inspiring our diverse healthcare workforce to realize this impact globally. We lead breakthroughs in the healthcare field. For everyone. Everywhere. With sustainability.
